Something i enjoyed doing alone

They are many things i enjoy doing alone and one of them is playing computer games , although nowadays i play nintendo wii with my sister and friends more often. It is much more better than the computer as to play it , you would have to move around constantly and it would in turn tone and hopefully help you to slim down.

I also like to go to Bishan Park which is directly opposite my house for a jog. You not only exercise there , you would also be able to interact with the friendly people there. Also , whenever i feel stressed about school work or any other stuff, i would go there to calm my nerves and relieve my stress.

Also , sometimes when i feel very lazy , i like to just lie on my bed and reflect on what happened the whole week and think of things which i could have done better and things that i regret doing and would never do again , such as using a handphone in class which a dire consequences. Also sometimes it is good to just stare at the ceiling and be free of your worries for awhile. Believe me, although it looks dumb , if you try it out yourself , you wil feel much better after that.

But sometimes , it is nice to just let your hair down and play computer games with your friends. Trust me , playing with your friends online is just as fun as play soccer with them in the field or play badminton with them. It helps you further bond with your friends.

You should try the above few tips if you feel very bored or very troubled!

I helped, no?

The celebration of Chinese New Year (in school)

Friday, 23rd of January was a bittersweet day. It was the day my school celebrated Chinese New Year. It was a eventful and wonderful day. The assembly was started with people with smiley faces after they were presented with a EduSave award for making the best improvement and the top 10% in the cohort.

After that , it was time for the presentation of the best decorated classroom award . This year , we were tasked two weeks in advance to decorate our classroom with the theme of Chinese New Year.( why am I not surprised.) As our class has been together for one whole year and counting , doing such a small event was no great feat. We took turns to stay back and decorate different parts of the classroom. As days passed, we could see the results of our hardwork with the whole class being decorated with lanterns and ang baos.
And on that day, our hardwork paid off as we were the champions of the classroom design competition which was definitely what we deserved . Throughout the whole day , our mouths were bananas stretching from cheek to cheek. That was a fantastic start for a day.
Next was the performances by the Chinese Literature Drama and Debate Society which was lively and humourous. They definitely deserved the thunderous appaluse they got . Then , the invited guests from a old folks home which were watching the whole celebration with us were invited on stage to sing Chinese New Year songs although some parts of it was inaudible as the AV club had some technical difficulties which was very severe , as throughout the whole show the mike would be screeching at a extremely high volume that could almost make your ear drums roll. The invited guests sang very well and we promptly joined in as the guests on stage invited us to sing along with them. From this show , i learnt a lot of things and i hope that next chinese new year, the AV Club would repair the technical glitches so as to put on a better show for our guests.

Unusual day that happened.

Phew ! I am so glad to be back here again! What a long day it has been! Till now I can still feel my heart pounding furiously in my ribcage. That was what the aftermath of the entire traumatic experience I had done to me.

You might have seen me or at least saw my shadow on the front page of the newspaper! Does that make me a star you think. But your absolutely WRONG ! Oh yes , why would I talk about these two seemingly irrelevant things? That was because i was trapped in the tallest ferris wheel in the whole world!

It all started with us going to the Singapore Flyer half an hour earlier as we were all so excited to be forty-two stories high and to be able to see the whole skyline of Singapore. As i seldom go out this was one eye-popping experience.

As we still had time , we were discussing about what we would do once our capsule reached the highest point of the Flyer's revolution. I was wondering if we could see Indonesia from there. My sister was whining about why we should eat at the Popeye's there. But as fate would have it , we did not as my parents were worried that we would not be in time to make the flight.

Unfortunately , fate had other plans for us. So instead of enjoying the tender and crispy fried chicken , we boarded the capsule and my feet never got to touch the good solid land for a good six hours. We were at the pinnacle of the Singapore Flyer when its axis suddenly stopped rotating. At first , I was ignorant of what was really happening so I felt lucky as i could spend extra time on the wonderful Singapore Flyer while everyone else could not.

But as time passed by , i realised that we had been stationary for a tad too long ! I was getting tired of trying to see Indonesia and i realised that the sun was setting and the air in the capsule was getting stuffy. I don't think that we were supposed to be on the Flyer for such a long time! Something was not right! (Yes i'm slow and i admit it)

Just then , everything became clear to me. There were crying infants , anxious parents and frustrated teenagers . I could even see a crowd of people around the intercom, jabbing the call button and repeatedly asking for explanations, anything that could make them feel more assured about their situation. But there was nothing. Nothing to make us all feel better. The reality of it all suddenly hit me. I was trapped. In a small space, with no guarantee as to when i could even return home. Helplessness gradually filled me, together with dread and anxiety. Comfort had never seemed so near, and yet was so far away.

Seconds seemed like minutes, and minutes seemed like hours. But after a while, there seemed to be some sort of a commotion within the capsule and i could feel a change in the buzzing of voices. Not pessimism, but hope. Help had arrived! Our saviours slowly lowered the old and the young using harnesses out of the capsule, then it was my turn. It was a rather crude way of escaping our plight. (But hey, at least it was better than nothing, right?)

As I slowly descended, blasts of cold air stung my face, but strangely enough, i welcomed it. It meant freedom. To an abseiling enthusiast, that might have been an exhirating experience, but i hardly remembered it. All i can dredge up from my vague memory of this was that I landed, some people took my harness off, and i waited for the rest of my family, hugging them tightly when we all touched ground safely. It might not have been life-threatening, but staying at a particular spot for almost 6 hours was no joke.( I almost peed my pants out!) Back to the topic, though we emerged from the experience slightly shaken (not stirred), but it gave me a new perspective on life and family, and what mattered most in life.

A few days later, when i found out a tiny electrical fire caused the flyer to break down, leaving us stranded, i was furious. But when i thought more about it, i decided to forgive and forget, because life was not about bearing grudges and moving on from bad times.

On hindsight, this was a rather unusual day, no?

Chinese New year eve and hours after it

Wow. Time really flies! Yesterday seemed to be the New Year's day and now its THE CHINESE NEW YEAR. I guess it zooms when you are really really having LOADS of fun!

I celebrated the last day of the Mouse year with a sumptuous reunion dinner with a long table of food, abalone in the soup and roasted duck along with MANY other ingredients. But no good dinner was complete without good company which was of course present in te form of my cousins! We caught up with each other and had a lot of meaningful conversations like what were the benefits they had when they took higher chinese. They also talked about their experiences before taking the 'o' level and how they achieved such great results which really inspired me to study hard. One exception, though, is my sister, who proudly boasted that she had slacked and yet had gotten eight points (!!!) Amazing, ain't it? I wish I could be like that too. I hope the smart genes flow in my blood. On the other hand, what intense pressure that has put me in. After all, my sister came home close to tears after the English exam but in the end had achieved an A1! Cool.

After that, we lounged around, waiting for the countdown to start. But in the mean time , we took a humongous amount of photos to commemorate the little remaining hours of the 'Mouse' year. I also became a par time photographer , helping my female cousins take lots of 'self-portraits' . They looked simply 'amazing' ! We also played some board games such as Monopoly and the Game Of Life.

As time flies when you are having fun, the three hours we spent together before the countdown to the Cow year went past extremely fast. We were all counting down together and celebrated the first few seconds of the Cow year wishing each other a Happy Chinese New Year. As we were at my grandmother's house in Chinatown . The fireworks were just in front of us and so close that I could almost touch it! ( Not that I would want to anyway. ) The fireworks were simply breath-taking ! We spent the first few hours of the Cow year walking in Chinatown to soak up the wonderful atmosphere. By the time we went home , it was already 4.a.m !

Wow. What a long and eventful Chinese New Year Eve I had!
Wishing everyone here a fantastic Chinese New Year!Gong Xi Fa Cai!

One moment which I enjoyed with my family : A trip to disney land

One moment I enjoyed with my family was when I went with my family to Hong Kong. We took a four hour flight from Singapore at around 8 a.m. We reached there in the afternoon and were greeted by the fine weather over there. It was about twenty degrees over there which is like my room with airconditioning. They would not need to pay for their airconditoning system! How great!

We first went to Hollywood Disney Hotel , which is a bus stop away from Disney Land. The WHOLE hotel was full of Disney stuff like the trademark Mickey ears which was imprinted on almost everything from the towels to the night lamp.

We then went to DisneyLand , where it was like a fantasy land , everything over there was adorably cute. We took many rides and there was this ride called "Space Mountain" and it was like riding on a extremely wild rollercoaster in pitchdarkness and to the extent that you could not even see your hand infront of you. I felt that is was okay , unlike my sister and mother who almost puked after the ride.

In the evening, there was a road performance where Disney characters such as Mickey , Donald Duck , Minnie , Buzz Lightyears and other famous characters.

In Hong Kong, since it was winter, by 5.30p.m the sun would already set. At around 6.00p.m , the widely anticipated fireworks finally came. It was breathtaking and it lasted a 6MINUTES! Wow. If only i had that WHOPPING sum of money! Imagine how many shiny gold ingots i could have! Or how many computers! While I wondered all the possible things i could do with that sum of money, the day had already unknowingly ended!

Spending the whole day with my family is definately the moment i enjoyed with my family and i would never EVER forget such a wonderful experience with my family!

Pictures:

As you can see, even pies are imprinted with the Disney's trademark!

A play of Lion King. And I got the front seat!

The fantastic Hong Kong DisneyLand!

And even dustbins are decorated!
