Wow. Time really flies! Yesterday seemed to be the New Year's day and now its THE CHINESE NEW YEAR. I guess it zooms when you are really really having LOADS of fun!
I celebrated the last day of the Mouse year with a sumptuous reunion dinner with a long table of food, abalone in the soup and roasted duck along with MANY other ingredients. But no good dinner was complete without good company which was of course present in te form of my cousins! We caught up with each other and had a lot of meaningful conversations like what were the benefits they had when they took higher chinese. They also talked about their experiences before taking the 'o' level and how they achieved such great results which really inspired me to study hard. One exception, though, is my sister, who proudly boasted that she had slacked and yet had gotten eight points (!!!) Amazing, ain't it? I wish I could be like that too. I hope the smart genes flow in my blood. On the other hand, what intense pressure that has put me in. After all, my sister came home close to tears after the English exam but in the end had achieved an A1! Cool.
After that, we lounged around, waiting for the countdown to start. But in the mean time , we took a humongous amount of photos to commemorate the little remaining hours of the 'Mouse' year. I also became a par time photographer , helping my female cousins take lots of 'self-portraits' . They looked simply 'amazing' ! We also played some board games such as Monopoly and the Game Of Life.
As time flies when you are having fun, the three hours we spent together before the countdown to the Cow year went past extremely fast. We were all counting down together and celebrated the first few seconds of the Cow year wishing each other a Happy Chinese New Year. As we were at my grandmother's house in Chinatown . The fireworks were just in front of us and so close that I could almost touch it! ( Not that I would want to anyway. ) The fireworks were simply breath-taking ! We spent the first few hours of the Cow year walking in Chinatown to soak up the wonderful atmosphere. By the time we went home , it was already 4.a.m !
Wow. What a long and eventful Chinese New Year Eve I had! Wishing everyone here a fantastic Chinese New Year!Gong Xi Fa Cai!
